creating your ceremony
Your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be.
It can be fun, free and completely unusual, or it can be stripped back and traditional.
It can be in any location you want to choose, have a theme or incorporate your life’s passions.
It can be low key, it can be massive, you can involve friends, family or pets.
Whatever you have in mind together we can make it happen.
What will our ceremony involve?
Short answer - anything you want it to!
It will be built around you. I’ll get to know you and capture the story of your love and who you are as people. Sharing that story and its moments of laughter and tears with your guests will be at the heart of your ceremony.
Humanist weddings and partnership ceremonies usually also have elements you’ll be familiar with - music, readings, vows or promises, a symbolic act such as exchanging rings, and an announcement of you as a couple.
But…
…this is by no means a set structure and you can choose what to include and what order it will all be in.
Things you could include:
Incorporating friends, family or children
Handfasting (also known as ‘tying the knot’)
A quaich cup (sharing a whisky or another drink of your choice)
Tree planting
Involving pets
Or why not even create your own tradition?
Fees & costs
My typical fee is between £550 & £650.
I want to make sure that having a celebrant-led ceremony is affordable to everyone so I’m always happy to discuss your costs.

How your ceremony is created

In person or online we’ll have an intro chat where we can discuss what you're after, you can ask any questions and see if you think I'd be the right fit for your wedding.

I’ll share some questions with you beforehand. We’ll then meet up for for a coffee and a big old chat. Through this we’ll get to know each other more, discuss your ceremony and I’ll gather all the info I need to start working on your wedding script.

I’ll sit down with everything we went over in the planning meeting and shape it into a unique script that reflects you and what you want for the ceremony. You can then either leave it up to me or I’ll share a draft of the script with you. You can request any changes you want and we’ll work together to make it perfect for you.

We’ll meet again at least once ahead of the big day to chat things over and make sure you’re happy with how it will all work. I’ll also get in touch with the venue and any other suppliers who need to know about the ceremony.

I’ll book out the full day of your wedding so no need to worry if times move around slightly. I’ll arrive early to make sure everything is in place and to check in with you and the venue.
I’ll guide you through the ceremony and make sure it’s something you and your guests talk about for the hours and days to come. You’ll also get a presentation copy of the script to keep.
